Podcast Production

While at university, I hosted a radio show on a local radio station in Sydney’s Northern Beaches. I had full creative control over the music and segments. However, after a few months, it felt like it was talking to nobody; there was very little feedback. Podcasting (media-enriched RSS feeds) was conceived around this time, so I began hosting and editing an audio podcast in tandem with my radio show. Soon I had thousands of downloads and listeners contacting me. I soon ended the radio show and spent more time on the podcast. In fact, my uni teacher asked me to teach a class on podcasting since it was so new and very few people were familiar with it.

Now, sixteen years later, practically every brand has a podcast in some form. I’ve worked with individuals, small businesses, and churches to produce relevant content for their audiences. Podcasts are a great way to collaborate with others and share insights about your business that will build brand loyalty.

I’ve built complete podcast studios for clients which includes installation of cameras, microphones, a soundboard, acoustic panelling, and video mixers. Not every podcast needs that level of equipment though. Getting started is the most important part. I can build the infrastructure to fit your needs and have it distributed to the world the same day you record it.

Long Island Ice Cream Tour - podcast east

In 2020, we added a podcast to the ever-expanding multimedia created for The Long Island Ice Cream Tour. Due to the pandemic, we weren’t allowed to bring attendees behind the counter to visualise how ice cream is made, so this is a great way to share more about the history and experience at each ice cream parlour we visit. Unlike many other podcasts, each episode is released on a schedule throughout a single day. The timing is based on the driving schedule we plan out for the tour. The podcast has been so popular with attendees that we’ve kept it going each year. Here’s our intro episode from 2020:

I wrote the script. Anna and Leah proofread the script. Each of the LIICT crew recorded their parts in different locations. Then I edited and mastered the files. I used Anchor to publish the files and distribute them to all the podcast networks. Attendees absolutely love listening to each episode as they drive to the different locations on the tour.

I looped the track “Submarine” by Dyalla in the background for ambiance and to mask some of the background noise.
